Geometry
Room 12 has been learning geometry for the past week. We have been revising on what geometry was about.
What is geometry?
Geometry has a relation between points, lines, surfaces, solids, and 3d dimensional shapes.
Room 12 revised 2d basic shapes are;
A square = 4 equal sides + 4 equal corners.
A circle = 0 sides + 0 corners
A rectangle = 4 sides + 4 corners
A triangle = 3 sides + 3 corners , each corner is 60°, which means a triangle is always = 180°.
After revising the shapes, we were learning about the types of parts to a 3d dimensional shape. There is the ;
Face - On flat side
Base - The side the shape sits on
Edges - The part where two faces meet
Corners - Where two edges meet.
Here I will be talking about the Cube, Rectangular solid (prism), Sphere, Cylinder, Cone and finally, the Square Pyramid.
The Cube is made up of;
6 Faces
0 Bases
12 Edges
8 Corners
The Rectangular solid (prism) is made up of;
6 Faces
0 Bases
12 corners
8 Corners
The Sphere is made up of;
0 Faces
0 bases
0 edges
0 corners
The Cylinder is made up of;
1 Face
2 Bases
2 Edges
0 Corners
The Cone is made up of ;
0 Face
1 Base
0 Edges
0 Corners
The Square Pyramid is made up of;
4 Faces
1 Base
8 Edges
4 Corners.
Thanks for reading what geometry shapes I learnt, don't forget to put a comment down below and ask any questions if there any concerns and thanks for reading.
