Screenshot 2015-12-01 at 9.03.09 AM.png

This game was a little challenging for me because all I had to do was to get numbers 2040 as my goal. My highest score was 1692. Room 12 have been playing maths games on http://www.transum.org/ and we have been having fun. Some of the games are challenging for me but i'm sure you'll have fun. The instructions for the game is on screen when playing.

I had fun playing this game ,good luck to those who have the confidence to get to 2040 high score. http://www.transum.org/Software/Game/

Geometry

Geometry

Room 12 has been learning geometry for the past week. We have been revising on what geometry was about.

What is geometry?
Geometry has a relation between points, lines, surfaces, solids, and 3d dimensional shapes.

Room 12 revised 2d basic shapes are;
A square = 4 equal sides + 4 equal corners.
A circle = 0 sides + 0 corners
A rectangle = 4 sides + 4 corners
A triangle = 3 sides + 3 corners , each corner is 60°, which means a triangle is always = 180°.

After revising the shapes, we were learning about the types of parts to a 3d dimensional shape. There is the ;
Face - On flat side
Base - The side the shape sits on
Edges - The part where two faces meet
Corners - Where two edges meet.

Here I will be talking about the Cube, Rectangular solid (prism), Sphere, Cylinder, Cone and finally, the Square Pyramid.

The Cube is made up of;Image result for cube
6 Faces
0 Bases
12 Edges
8 Corners

The Rectangular solid (prism) is made up of;Image result for Rectangular solid (prism)
6 Faces
0 Bases
12 corners
8 Corners

The Sphere is made up of;Image result for Sphere
0 Faces
0 bases
0 edges
0 corners

The Cylinder is made up of;Image result for Cylinder
1 Face
2 Bases
2 Edges
0 Corners

The Cone is made up of ;Image result for Cone
0 Face
1 Base
0 Edges
0 Corners

The Square Pyramid is made up of;Image result for Square Pyramid
4 Faces
1 Base
8 Edges
4 Corners.

Thanks for reading what geometry shapes I learnt, don't forget to put a comment down below and ask any questions if there any concerns and thanks for reading.

Place Value

blog.jpg

Group 3 and i have been working on a worksheet . This worksheet has taught me how to estimate, use place value and fractions.

The math strategy that i’m having struggle w/ is the fractions. I notice that when the teacher tells me and I forget, teaches me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.

Estimating and Place value is a quick and easy thing to learn. Estimating means to guess the answer and Place value is about knowing which digit has to be placed in.

Put a comment down below and tell me what place value that you know. I know my Ones,Tenths and Hundredths.

Thanks for reading.

WW1 Trench

Week 4 is the week where all room 12 students are learning to write 3 sentences for one picture. Here are the three sentences that I have wrote on what the picture looks like.
Trenches swiveled through a mountain in a maze figure - with people crowded upon each other, waiting for the enemy.

“ My heart is getting louder, it almost feels like waiting to get shot. My heart is struggling to work. My heart beats are increasing while time flies by.”

“Protecting my country is something stuck in my head - as I know my family depends on me.”

Hope you enjoyed reading my writing.

Place Value Word Search

Screenshot 2015-05-05 at 10.20.09.png

Place value word search is about knowing the value of a number. The number values can be placed in the ones, tenths, hundredths, etc. For example - what place value has been underlined? 123,456,789, write in the comments below  .

This word search has taught me that there are many place values for any amount of numbers.

This game was a bit of a struggle for me because I quickly realized that some of the words were to be spelt backwards. I was really happy when I completed the word search game. I really like playing this game and I had fun . Click on the link below and have fun playing this game - WordSearch Place Value

Maths Strategies Week 2

Multiplication Strategys.

From the past two weeks, i have learnt how to increase my ways to answer the question faster.I have learnt more than two strategies for just one equation. I've also been using them for the whole of term 2.

If your wanting to know what equations i've been doing, heres a bit of an example.
----------------------------------
18 x 15 =270
( 10 x 10 = 100
10 x 8 = 80
10 x 5 = 50
8 x 5 = 40)
And heres a different strategy i've also used.
18 x 15 = 270
(18 x 10 = 180
18 x 5 = 90
180 + 90 = 270
----------------------------------
This knowledge has taught me how to be faster at my multiplication and to know many other multiplication strategies I could use. I would like to master my decimals, percentages and coordinates by the end of term 2 .
